Training for first 5K

Today I started my training for my first 5K.  Let me tell you, I really don’t know what to think of the results I’m getting.  Last week I ran a mile and a half just to see where I’m at.  My result was a 13:30 mile and a half.  I don’t really know if that is good or not considering that Ive never really taken endurance training serious.  I am 251 pounds so I think that is OK.  What do you all think?  Today I ran a mile just to see what my time would be, and that was 7:53…  The same thing, I do not know how to gauge my results.  I’m finding that I do love to be outside and run rather than on a treadmill, but i guess that common with a lot of people.
